deploying

0545

It was not an easy morning.  Leave it to the military to have your loved one's deploy on 9/11. Having kids makes you so scattered brained sometimes that you get distracted from the inevitable. Kay and Troy helped but when the bus pulled up and the Colonel said it was time to go,  I could feel the tears building up in my throat. I kept it together except for some little tears but when I was hugging Kay as daddy was walking toward the bus and I could feel her shake and hear her sniffling... It broke me. All you could hear were airplanes taking off and sniffles from all the family members.  Some of the kids( and I use that term literally) deploying with J.T.  are 18 years old. J.T. took one under his wing. I can't imagine being 18 and flying across the world to a place full of sand and people who despise you and plot your death and pray for it daily. Bombs overhead. Rockets being launched. IED's planted on the side of the road. I can't imagine being that young and facing that for the first time. I pray for the safety and sanity of our Troops no matter their age. I certainly am appreciative of their courage and sacrifice. God Bless. USAF Proud

some berry and not so very good news!

Of note: This post was written before I miscarried on 8/21/14. I debated on deleting because of all the sadness I feel over no longrer being pregnant. However,  as I refelct on all that has happened I realize that this is a moment that I NEVER want to forget. This is our journey and our story. This was our happiness!

Holy Crap! On June 19th I was full of smiles and also full of fear. I looked at Troy pulling out everything from my bathroom vanity product by product and my heart felt happy and fearful. This crazy, fun, sweet, little devil was going to be a BIG BROTHER :) Oh my goodness. I hope it's a girl because Kayleigh's life will officially be complete haha.

We shared our little family tradition of taking a walk around our trail at our complex and stopping on the bridge to share the good news. It's simple but we love doing it. Kay found out that we were getting married on the bridge and also that she was going to be a big sister. For this story we got Kay and Troy shirts. Again, simple. Kayleigh didn't really get it until we showed her Troy's shirt though. She smiled so big, jumped up on J.T. and said "thank you" lol. She has been wanting a sibling since Troy was born. She then danced and sang her way through the rest of the trail about having a baby. She's not stopped kissing my belly since and neither has Troy. He points and rubs on my stomach and gives it a hug and a kiss. He is just so smart and so sweet. I am so excited for what the future may bring and also scared I won't be good with two and sometimes three in the household. I'm so exhausted in working from home and taking care of Troy that I feel like a failure already in a sense.

All  that being said the fear of not being everything to everyone and being able to hold it all together taken to another level when we found out that J.T. will be deploying. For 6 months. And will miss the birth of his next child. What the hell? Are you serious? I'm going to be alone with two kids for the next 6 months AND preganant. Excuse me while I go into denial. Just kidding. I am OK and am just taking it all moment by moment. This too shall pass and we will come out stronger as a family.

Cheers, LB!

pinned week 3

land of the free, because of the brave.

Cheers, LB

Of Note:
  • The baby leggings can be found at Sugarlime Lane
  • I love eagles and this sweater. Such a powerful and beautiful symbol of America.
  • I hope to find a white tank and for Troy to hold his hand still so I can make this memory/shirt.

**Most importantly...it is easy to get caught up in the fashion and fun and booze and pool and food, but let's remember those still fighting, those who have fought, and how FORTUNATE we are to be Free as a Nation.

Godspeed Our Troops.

graduation

After 5 deployments and what seems like 10 years.... My man got that paper! That was slang for his diploma! He graduated from UNC-Greensboro with his Business Degree.  To be completely honest he would have gotten a psychology degree. Since he wants to become an Officer in the Air Force you need a degree in order to do so.  He didn't really care what the degree was just as long as he got one and I couldn't agree more.  Troy wasn't on his best behavior. Seems as always near the important parts they start to meltdown. Had we not arrived 20min early I feel he would've made it. Oh well, I enjoy nursing in front of thousands ;)We celebrated graduating with skydiving and you can see that post here!
